Zirlux Patient FAQ

January 31, 2018

So, you went to the dentist and you have to get a restoration or maybe you’re unhappy with your smile and beginning to do your research. Whichever the case may be, we want you to feel 100% confident in your restorative options and materials. Here are some quick frequently asked questions to get you started with Zirlux.

What is Zirlux Zirconia?

Zirconia is an all-ceramic dental material that looks and feels like your natural tooth. Zirlux is recommended for patients who have damaged existing teeth or previous restorations. If you are a grinder or exhibit signs of bruxism, Zirlux Zirconia can protect your teeth from wear or damage.

What’s the difference between zirconia and metal?

Zirconia is more esthetic and natural looking than metal crowns and it has proven biocompatibility and wear against other teeth. Its strength makes it resistant to chipping, cracking or breaking without sacrificing your healthy appearance and confidence.

Am I a good candidate? What conditions may benefit from Zirlux all-ceramic restorations?

  • Restoring the shape of a chipped or broken tooth
  • Strengthening a weak or worn tooth
  • Restoring a tooth after significant decay
  • Holding together pieces of a broken tooth
  • Replacing one or more missing teeth
  • Making cosmetic improvements to flawed teeth

Is zirconia safe?

Yes! Zirconia is FDA approved and a perfect solution for those with metal allergies. Due to its biocompatibility, the body doesn’t reject zirconia and you don’t need to worry about facing allergies or unfavorable reactions. Zirconia restorations accumulate significantly less plaque buildup too!

How long will a Zirlux zirconia restoration last?

Of course, this will be dependent on each patient and will vary based on the overall oral care by each. Because of its resistance to corrosion, Zirconia restorations can last up to 10 years or a lifetime.

How can I get a Zirlux restoration?

Any dentist office can prescribe Zirlux from a dental laboratory. Your doctor will take an impression of your teeth and send that to the dental lab where they will manufacture your tooth. Today, dental labs are using some of the most advanced technology and processes to match your new tooth to the rest of your mouth.

Are there any side effects?

There are no side effects to the zirconia itself. If you have any type of reaction to the restoration you should contact your doctor immediately.

How much does it cost?

The cost of dental work will vary based on each dental practice and their fee schedule. To get a more concrete price it is recommended you call your dental office before treatment.
